Water Board links Sustainable Action policy task to asset management

At the Drents Overijsselse Delta Water Board, "Sustainable Action" is the first policy challenge that combines policy management and performance delivery within asset management.

The sustainability goals for this stem from the climate agreements and the Green Deal for Civil Engineering. In addition, the water board faces the challenge of reducing energy consumption, greening its operations, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the use of primary raw materials, and making them circular.

The water board has embarked on a path toward sustainability, with the benchmark years of 2030 and 2050, but there's still a long way to go. And starting in April 2022, Delta Pi will be guiding them along the way.

Sustainability goals

A key focus here is on making the sustainability goals outlined in the 2022-2027 Water Management Program concrete and establishing policy guidance for this. Although asset management at the water board is still in development, the sustainability goals will also be embedded within asset management.

Policy management will be based on performance, costs, and risks, according to WDOD's new corporate values model. This values model also provides scope for opportunities.

By making the policy challenge of 'sustainability' concrete and combining it with the development of asset management, the asset management system is tested and opportunities for further improvement arise.

A wonderful collaboration in which the ambitions of the water board and the expertise of Delta Pi are optimally utilized.
